MINI JCW returns with a 2019 facelift and reduced emissions

Available from March 2019 onwards, the most powerful versions of the MINI range, the JCW, will come with a new exhaust filtration system as one of its primary updates.

Both the MINI John Cooper Works Hatch and the Convertible are fitted with a 2.0-litre 231 hp four-cylinder engine with MINI Twin Turbo Power technology.

Available with either a 6-speed manual or an 8-speed Steptronic sports transmission, the MINI John Cooper Works Hatch accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.3 seconds. The Convertible will take merely 0.3 seconds longer to do the same.

The new petrol particulate filter that’s integrated into the standard sports exhaust not only ensures the reduction of particulate matter emissions but also promises a “characteristic sound inside and outside the vehicle”.

Suspiciously though, this new update sounds like it could affect the fuel efficiency of the car as MINI went on to say that the introduction of the latest pollutant reduction technology “will not adversely affect” fuel economy. Hmm.

Notable standard equipment includes a Sports suspension with 17-inch John Cooper Works “Track Spoke” alloy wheels, a high performance braking system and John Cooper Works Aerodynamic Kit.

Prices are expected to start from £24,480 (approx. RM 129k) for the hatchback and £28,140 (approx. RM 148k) for the convertible.

Regularly spend countless hours online looking at cars and parts I can't afford to buy. How a car makes you feel behind the wheel should be more important than the brand it represents - unless resale value is your thing.
