First ever Audi Q8 to debut in China, sexy enough to take on the BMW X6?

We last heard of the Audi Q8 name a little over a year ago and now the four-rings have kick-started the launch campaign of its upcoming SUV coupe. Slated for global unveiling at the 2018 Audi China Brand Summit in Shenzhen, the Q8 is teased in a series of short films.

Positioned as the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe rival, the Q8 is essentially a spin-off of the Q7 that sits at the top of Audi’s SUV range. In concept form, the SUV coupe retains much of its family design cues like the hexagonal Singleframe grille, slim headlamps and single stripe trim that connects the taillamps.

What is noticeably unique to the Q8 is the decidedly angular C-pillar that meets the extended tailgate design, giving the SUV its coupe silhouette. As for cabin design, expect the Q8 to feature items on the new-generation A8 such as triple-screen Audi Virtual Dashboard and an array of luxury items. It remains to be seen whether the Q8 will be offered as a four- or five-seater.

Technical information on the new SUV coupe is scarce but Audi has given the public a glimpse when it displayed the Q8 Concept with a plug-in hybrid powertrain generating 328 hp. The company previously has shown the Q8 Sport Concept with a 3.0-litre petrol V6 mild-hybrid to deliver 476 hp and 700 Nm of twist.

The 2018 Audi China Brand Summit will take place on 5 June 2018 where the first-ever Audi Q8 will be revealed in full. In the meantime, tune in to the leading up to the official launch of the Q8.
