The Toyota C-HR is close to finally being on the road, and it seems like the UK market will be one of the early recipients of Toyota’s latest crossover. Pricing for the base variant starts from RM108k (or £20,995) to RM144k (or £27,995) for the full-spec hybrid trim.

Two engine options will be offered; a 1.2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol that produces 112 hp and 185 Nm of torque, or a 120 hp 1.8-litre Atkinson-cycle four-banger that is hooked to an electric motor. The turbocharged variant can be had with a choice of six-speed manual or CVT, and remains as the only variant to be specced with the optional all-wheel drive system.

Standard features across the range are dual-zone climate controls, 17-inch alloy wheels, automatic wipers, Toyota’s proprietary Touch 2 touchscreen head unit and reverse camera. Optional extras include keyless entry, push start button, parking sensors, rear privacy glass, 18-inch alloys, LED headlights, and satellite navigation. Some of these are standard in the more expensive variants, though.

The cabin can be customised to come in varying colours, and according to Toyota, the colour theme is Blue and Black, Brown and Black and Dark Grey.

UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd has expressed deep interests to introduce the C-HR here, and we have a feeling the turbocharged variant will more likely be making its Malaysian debut instead of the hybrid. Either way, both variants, should they be locally assembled, will have no trouble receiving the EEV status. It’s all down to the pricing, and right now it’s not looking so great.

Oh, the C-HR will also be part of a three-car Toyota team for the Nurburgring 24-hour race, alongside the Lexus RC and RC F.
