Taking the stand at the Frankfurt International Motor Show along side its stablemates is the latest limited edition BMW M6 Coupe Competition. BMW M division said this iteration stands for exceptional individuality, thanks to its special paint schemes, high-tech carbon fibre components, fine-grain leathers with contrast stitching and a range of unique details over the run-of-the-mill M6.

The source of inspiration for this Competition variant is the newly developed BMW M6 GT3. As per the rules of GT3 racing, the race car has to be based on a road-going car, and Voila! The M6 Coupe Competition edition is born. The beauty of all this is that true well-heeled petrol heads are able to buy a road-going version of the GT3 racer.2015-BMW-M6-Competition-Edition-02

As the headlining read, the M6 Competition comes with a snarling great 4.4-litre V8 that churns 600 hp and 700 Nm of twist, thanks to BMW’s TwinPower Turbo technology enhanced by its performance arm. The Competition Edition is available exclusively for the BMW M6 Coupe, whereas the Competition Pack is an optional extra that costs a whopping €17,700, or RM85,455!

Most call it Go-Faster stickers, but we’d like to think of them as a nostalgic little tribute to the racing colours of yesteryear that has adorned a myriad of great racers and equally beautiful machines such as the classic 3.0 CSL. Aside from the stickers, the M6 Competition comes with a choice of two licks of paint namely Alpine White and metallic Austin Yellow. Both colour options offer an interesting contrast to the lightweight matte black 20-inch M-wheels.2015-BMW-M6-Competition-Edition-07

On the inside, BMW’s Individual line of fine-grain Merino leather in black with contrast stitching envelops the upholstery. “M6 Competition” lettering in metal on the door sills, side gills, along with lettering on the cupholder lids, is a further signature feature of the Edition model. The interior trim strips, gear selector and M sports steering wheel spokes are made from lightweight carbon fibre, while the steering wheel rim is lined with elegant and grippy Alcantara.

A pair of M multifunction seats for the driver and front passenger as well as BMW Head-Up Display are also part of the equipment range. Meanwhile, for the lead-footed audiophile, the M6 comes with Harman Kardon Surround Sound System as standard. There’s also a €4,950 (RM24,000) optional 1,200 Watt Bang & Olufsen High-End Surround Sound System with 16 speakers.
